I wrote a poem with a similar theme not long ago:

Do not forget we need the night,
Even with all its cold and dark.
Sometimes our eyes need rest from light;
You and I are only mortal.
The time must come to cease the fight,
Choosing love over the battle,
And finding a place for our dreams.
We cannot guard every portal,
Nor live only in the sunbeams.
Remember the stars and the moon,
However dark it sometimes seems,
And the dawn will be coming soon,
Beautiful only in contrast.
Know that this cycle is a boon;
Golden summer can never last.
Even Apollo needs his sleep,
And feast must be followed by fast.
Whatever things in the dark may creep,
There is light for every shadow.
Safe at night a strong man may weep,
Lovers give voice to what they know,
Prisoners escape from their jails,
And heroes let their burdens go.
At last the darkness always fails,
Virtues of night and day in scope,
The brilliance proof we know from tales,
That light after dark gives us hope.
